Nevermore By Kelly Creagh

Nevermore (Nevermore, #1)Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Reading Level: Young Adult

Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look. Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.

  My Thoughts:
This book was wonderful.

I had little idea what this book was about when i started. I was blown away by how beautifully Edgar Allan Poe was woven into the plot.

I hate one thing about me. And its that i cannot like a book in which a guy has piercings and long hair. I just cant. This has been the reason for most of my books being half read. I find it hard to visualize the character and actually like it.
But this book was on a completely different scale.

I loved the chemistry between Isobel and Varen. Though two completely different people; they seemed right for each other from the start. I can definitely relate with Isobel because of her curiosity towards Varen and his black journal.

The writing is simple but very vivid. You cant help but be a part of the book.
I felt Isobel's embarassment in the cafeteria and on other such occasions. And wanted to strangle her stupid boyfriend and selfish friends.

It was the middle when things started getting intense. When so many things were happening and you couldnt understand why.

It didnt end the way i wanted. But im glad that there is a sequel coming up, which i will read as soon as possible.

This book is a definite favourite!
